We are an old-fashioned township building, settled in amongst 5000 square metres of garden so it's never hard to find a quiet spot in the sun if you want one. Our garden offers fantastic views of Mt Pihanga and the surrounding hills. The supermarket and bus stop are only a 5-10 minute walk from the hostel and the Tongariro River is also within easy walking distance.
We are proud to offer free unlimited Wifi to all guests, along with a free evening bowl of pasta and sauce, cheap laundry, 1000 movies to watch on our TV's hard drive and free off-street parking. Plenty to do at the hostel, plenty to do outside of it too...
We run our own shuttle to the Tongariro Crossing with flexible departure and return times and offer the cheapest transport in the area. Our staff can give you all the advice you need on weather conditions, track safety and equipment needed. If you're travelling alone we can maybe find you a 'hiking buddy' in the hostel so you can share the experience and perhaps be a bit safer than going solo, but if you'd rather be a lone-wolf then go for it!
If you are in Turangi for a fishing or skiing trip we can help with that too. We are not far from the river and only a 35 minute drive from the Ruapehu ski fields.
